INSPIRATION HAPPENS!

At Fotolanthropy, we believe that sharing inspiring true stories can empower and positively encourage others. We are honored to work with stories of people who have persevered courageously through their adversities. For it is these stories that can help each of us remain inspired in this life.

OUR STORY

Fotolanthropy began in 2011 when professional photographer Katie Norris desired to find a philanthropic way to give back to others with the gift of photography. She wanted to focus on what the art of photography is really all about, which is documenting life stories. Katie has always had a heart for true stories and the inspirational feeling she gains from the courageous people the stories are about. She knew these were the kind of stories she wanted to document and share with others. She then dreamed up the idea of pairing photography with film to bring each story to life. As this movement is joining photos, film and philanthropy all together, the word “Fotolanthropy” seemed to sum it all up.

It was then that Katie hired on her associate and now Vice President of Fotolanthropy, Brooke Moore, who shared the common passion to use her talents in a philanthropic way. People hope to learn what their calling in life is and Katie literally got a phone call that changed the course of her life. During the time of development and gaining the courage to begin Fotolanthropy, Katie received a call from a heartbroken mother who had just been given the devastating news that her son James had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The mother had no idea that Katie had the heart for such a portrait session. Katie knew Fotolanthropy had begun that moment and that honoring these life stories was what she was suppose to do. The humbling experience of helping to preserve baby James life with photography and film was life changing for Katie. What was even more impactful to her was how in just 8 short months, this little boy could inspire so many lives across the world.

We hope that you can visit our website and feel refreshed and inspired as we honor the inspiring true stories around us. We will continue to share and give to others in remembrance of our first story, James Camden Sikes.

Katie and her team have produced the following films: Baby James (an 8-month-old baby boy who lost his life to brain cancer), Beauty out of Ashes (a brave family that lost their home to the wildfires in Bastrop, TX), The Road Ahead (a new father diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma), Unexpected Joy (an inspiring family with a special needs child), and Each Day Counts (a baby boy diagnosed with SMA).
